Dr. Michael C. Izzo is a board-certified ophthalmologist who joined Berks Eye Physicians & Surgeons in August of 2023. He is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist with expertise in all aspects of medical and surgical glaucoma diagnosis and management. His individualized care plans offer the full range of treatment options, including the newest medications, the latest laser technologies, and the most effective surgical procedures to protect your vision and enhance your quality of life.
Dr. Izzo also specializes in small incision, no-stitch, no patch cataract and intraocular lens implant (IOL) surgery. He uses the latest technologies, such as presbyopia-correcting implants to eliminate the need for reading glasses and bifocals, as well as toric implants to correct astigmatism.
Dr. Izzo received his fellowship training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He served as Chief Resident at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC after graduating from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Dr. Izzo is also a Boston College graduate holding a BS in Biology.
Dr. Izzo lives in Wyomissing, PA with his wife Maura.

Wonderful practice! From the front desk to the staff in the back, and most certainly the doctors, specifically Dr. Michael Izzo. My husband was seen by Dr. Izzo for high pressures in his eye due to glaucoma. I was out of town for the initial appointment, but Dr. Izzo called me on the phone so I could be part of the appointment and understand what was happening to my husband and what needed to be done. He is highly professional, yet very compassionate with his patients. He encourages questions and wants your concerns to be voiced so that he can address the immediately. My husband needed emergent surgery to reduce pressure in one eye. The next week the surgery was done and has been a smashing success! Aftercare has been amazing.
